Collaboration with Kkim Rosario

Analog Medium Format 2020

Starting point is the exploration of colour, texture, shape and light from the perspective of our respective creative worlds.

The project  becomes a series of flirtations with different understandings of portrait and still life through the ages. Hence its title Dragon Fruit, that evokes a certain pictorial tradition yet rarely used as a  painting object.

Dragon Fruit jumps in and out of time in its synthesis of classical painting sitters and contemporary body posture experimentation. Sometimes more than one age inhabits the same image.
All pictures belong to the same world yet different images trace differing  connections between them, the pictorial tradition they may be interpreting and the beholder.

The flirtation of diving in and out of different periods is also codified with the creation of a hybrid scenario using film, recycled materials and textiles reborn into futuristic elements, pink brand new crisp background paper roll  and pink rent out Balenciaga overknee boots.
The riches are in the colour, the portrait is in the light. Fruit colour in our magnitude. We determined the palette and the space and the volume, they danced within.
